Stage II Alarm Drought Imposed: Mandatory Reduction
November 18, 2020
Creedmoor-Maha Water Supply Corporation has been placed under Stage II drought conditions due to the severe absence of rainfall, high usage and resulting low Aquifer levels. The Stage II Alarm mandates a 20% reduction in all water usage. This requirement is being imposed by Barton Springs/Edwards Aquifer Conservation District, which provides the majority of water for CMWSC. You can learn more about the District’s mandate here.
We need your support in reducing water usage. It is critical that we reduce our water usage. Here in Creedmoor-Maha, we are experiencing the same level of water usage that we saw in the June, July, and August months. We must meet the 20% reduction target in order to ensure that there is sufficient water available for all. If we are unable to reach this target, penalties may be imposed on Creedmoor-Maha. To avoid further water reductions and penalties, CMWSC may have to install a flow restricting device in water lines. As a result, members may be charged for the actual cost of installing and removing the device not to exceed $50.
Please read the 2020 Tariff for more details.
Members are required to comply with Stage II drought restrictions. Three things you can do to reduce water usage include:
- Fixing leaks/drips or running toilets
- Limit lawn watering to ONCE a week between 7am and 9am and 7pm and 9pm
- Do not run the dishwasher until it is full
